Sans serif is a term used in typography to describe a typeface that does not have small decorative lines or “serifs” at the end of the strokes that make up the letters. Sans serif fonts are often characterised by their clean, modern and minimalistic appearance, and are commonly used in digital media, such as on websites and mobile devices. Sans serif fonts are also used in printed materials for a sense of simplicity and clarity. Popular examples of sans serif fonts include Arial, Helvetica and Futura.
