To commission Vaillant devices, installers make an appointment with a Vaillant engineer once the device has been installed. Previously, this was done using a static PDF form, which had limited input fields for limited device types.
The aim of this B2B project was to optimise the user experience (UX) by setting up the device commissioning form as a flexible, responsive and user-centred online form. The process digitalisation also included the automated data transfer to designated Vaillant employees.
The challenge: The online form had to be easy to use, but it had to ask for a large amount of information. Input fields had to be displayed dynamically depending on previously selected answers, selectable drop-down content needed to be filtered accordingly and input fields partly had to be filled automatically based on previous input field data. And all this across five product categories – each with different product types, product versions and numerous device-specific queries about control units, installation and more.
Close coordination was essential for the correct technical implementation of the large amount of dynamic content; both with the client, but especially between the areas of data preparation, user experience, process design, UI design and software development.
In addition, we developed a CMS so that the client can add or edit installer data, property developer data and device data – as well as related input fields – at any time via CSV import or manual import.
